Standby open read/write and then revert resets the sequence# and now the standby is broken
Bug #2413771 describes my problem.
However, what I did was http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14239/scenarios.htm#CIHIABDH
section 12.6 Using a Physical Standby Database for Read/Write Testing and Reporting
I had the standby open for about 5 days. I had tested the whole procedure before using it. Especially going back to the normal standby mode.
The sequence# was reset to 1. How did this happen, and why didn't it revert?
And how the heck can I fix this?
