Installing Orcle 10G client on Windows 2003 server

 Wonder if anyone has encountered this issue:

trying to install oracle 10g client on a windows 2003 server (64-bit).

first issue: the universal installer does not recognize or report the fact that there already is an installation of Oracle 9i client on this box.

second issue: when I hit the "next" button to proceed with the install of Oracle 10g client, the OUI window disappears and nothing more happens.

any tips would be appreciated!
