RMAN: If a level 0 backup fails are subsequent level 1 backups viable?

edited Jan 29, 2009 2:35AM in Database Backup and Recovery (MOSC) 2 commentsAnswered
If an RMAN level 0 backup  fails or partially fails will the subsequent level 1 incrementals which "include all the changed blocks since the most recent level 0 backup" viable for restore purposes?
In other words do the incremental level 1 backups ignore the failed level 0 backup and continue to backup all changed blocks since the previous level 0 backup, or do they just backup new changed blocks since the last scheduled but failed level 0 backup?

So if my base level 0 fails do I need to run it again as soon as possible or can I just leave it until the next scheduled level 0 the following week?

Howdy, Stranger!
