Authentication with Microsoft Active Directory without OID

 We are looking for a way to authenticate our database users against Microsoft AD without having to implement OID due to licensing.   Our database is on a HP-UX box and all of our clients are windows based.

Has any one been successful in setting this up or have good documentation?  Most of the documentation I have found is for Windows database installations.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.
