SSO for database

We have an application running with database authentication and roles for security. A customer asked us if there's a way to use his Active Directory authentication database to access the application without creating user/passwords.
Searching for info I've found only documents regarding SSO for OA and not for database...
A complication might be the fact we install only linux servers for db and I don't know how is possibile to integrate linux boxes with AD.
Can someone help me?
