sorting with nulls

Is there a database parameter that can override the default Oracle sort behavior of putting nulls last.

I know you can override this behavior with an order by, but I'm looking for a database wide parameter/switch, so our developers don't have to change code.

Actually trying to have Oracle mimic the Informix behavior of sorting with nulls.
