Merge Incrementals/Incremental Updated - thoughts?

I've been going over my backup configurations again and I have found a very interesting note in metalink.  As my previous post pointed out, I'm looking at using "Incrementally Updated" Image copies with block change tracking as a possible backup solution.  I'm still sold on this until I find a flaw with it; however, I think I might have found a problem/bug (even though Oracle has a document for the solution).

When setting up RMAN we can set or retention policy to either a window of days or a redundancy of copies.  When using incremental updated backups, this option has to be set to the default of redundancy=1; especially if you are using FRA and expect Oracle to manage the space correctly.
