Best Practices: UPC Suffix

 Curious how others are handling the use of a UPC suffix for their products, for example adding a 2 digit suffix to mark a package change for a promotion so you do not have to change the UPC and incure new costs of shelving a "new item".

Are you using new item numbers to order those within OM?  Using Lot Control?
