BI ADMINISTRATION TOOL tnsnames set up

TNSNAMES.ORA
I'm having problems connecting to my database which is on a linux server machine; trying to connect from my desktop windows XP. I'm trying to pick up a repository for my BI Administration development in OBIEE. I can connect to the database from Report6i and SQLPLUS from the same PC.

My tnsnames file is on another machine to which I created a pointer in the registry TNS_ADMIN pointing to \\DOCSERVE\erp where my TNSnames file is located.

Any help will be much appreciated.
