Migrate Production Databases to use ASM+Clusterware+11g+Dataguard, no RAC

My DBA team is planning to move our production HP-itanium, 10.1.0.4, maximum performance data guard configuration, cooked filesystems, Service Guard databases to 11.1.0.7.0, ASM, Clusterware, without using RAC.  We want to take advantage of Oracle's Clusterware to failover our databases to other servers instead of using Service Guard.

We have no plans to use RAC but want to move a database to another server in case of server failure or load balance a database to another server.  Oracle Clusterware appears to be the answer.   Has anyone used clusterware, without RAC, to failover databases to other servers when a server crashes?

We also want to take advantage of using ASM to accomplish this task of failover using Clusterware.

Howdy, Stranger!
