Is it possible to tweak the shutdown-timeout parameter?

edited Feb 13, 2009 7:18AM in Database Administration (MOSC) 4 commentsAnswered
We are now and then running into ORA-1013 messages after an hour when shutting down our databases for backup. This is done with the dbshut utility which uses "shutdown immediate". Is it possible to overrule this 1 hour timeout parameter to a smaller value (say 5 minutes) our is this hard-coded in the RDBMS (10.2.0.4) software?

TIA
