Questions on STALE statistics

2 questions regarding collection of STALE statistics :-

Question 1 :-

One of our applications contains volatile tables with new partitions added each month, and so Stats are collected regularly.

I run a STALE stats collection each night,which varies in its duration, depending upon the amount of data changes which have taken place.

Statistics for most tables are collected quickly, but the Biggest tables can take several hours to collect Global stats, which can impact upon the Application.

The sample size is determined by Oracle, and in general,the bigger the table,the smaller the sample.

However, whereas some medium size tables are using a small sample,some large tables are using a 100% sample - see list below.
