trying to understand content server archive in UCM with Record Management

I am pretty new to UCM and am trying to get a grasp on it.  The documentation gives me quite a bit of detail, but I am struggling with trying to archive records. When I set up a disposition to archive to the content server after a certain amount of time (lets say 6 months after retention cutoff), how do I know where the records are archiving to?  It looks like the purpose of this, is to export the records and store them as an export somewhere.  I guess my question is where?

Just for testing purposes, I set up a disposition to archive all records 1 day after activation date.  then I made the activation date today.  I ran the batch processes and expected the records that were in the contribution folder that had the disposition attached to them to be exported.  I had no idea where to verify that this event had in fact occurred.  Could anyone out there help clear up the gray areas I have on this whole process?

Howdy, Stranger!
