was index tablespace a default tablespace in 9i, if so, do indexes get included in the sysaux tables

we are creating a new oracle10g SE database to import our oracle 9i database.  We saw that the INDEX tablespace was not created on 10g and thought it was a defalt tabase with 9i, with that said, we have two questions

1.  When configureing oracle 9i would INDEX have been a required/default tablespace?

2.  When importing to 10g, will the indexes import proplerly even if the INDEX tablespace doesn't?

We are getting errors because of the different blocksizes between the 9i and 10g databases.
