SQL Profile - Refresh?

 Is it possible to refresh a SQL Profile? I understand that once created they do not change. I am worried that a profile I created a year ago may no longer be as beneficial as it was. It seems that I cannot create a new one when one already exists, which means I have to drop the old one - which I am reluctant to do.
