Separating Sites

I have a customer that is splitting into two different companies. One location will be Co#1 and the other will be Co#2.

They are both currently in the system as one customer. How do I separate the sites and contacts associated with Co#2 into its own record. We want to be able to keep all history of this location with the transfer?

Can this be done.
