End-dating contracts upon a termination in HRMS

My customer a quick question that I thought you could help (at least steer us to the right info).

When an employee is terminated, Oracle end-dates certain kinds of data and leave open-ended other kinds of data. For example:

- Person details (SITs, EITs, Addresses, Phones, etc) are left open-ended
- Assignment-related data (assignment, Salary, Elements) get end-dated

Contract data (if the employee is on an employment contract) is left open-ended upon a termination. I would think that is more assignment related and should be end-dated.

Is there a comprehensive list of what gets end-dated and what is left open-ended?
Also, we don't understand the rationale of why certain things are end-dated and others left open? Can you explain?
