OVMS: Creating a new database manually on same database server

  Hi,

we have a 10.2 database (production) running on oracle VMS 8.2
we are using user managed backup (we are not using RMAN)
we lost some tables and need to recover those tables from user managed hot backup

What we did was to copy over the hot backup to a disk on the production database serve. The plan is to create a new database using that hot backup and then once the database is created, export the tables from that newly created database and import it back onto current production database. Can someone please help us if the process for manually creating a new database on the same VMS server using user managed hot backup is different than that of on unix / windows platform? Do we just need to connect to the VMS server as "oracle" user

Howdy, Stranger!
