Moving to Shared APPL_TOP looking for experinced input

Hi,
Our current environment is 2 nodes.  Node 1 = RDBMS and CCM services.   Node 2 = Forms, Apache services

We are moving to new hardware and at the same time we want to implement a shared APPL_TOP.  Currently each node has their own version of APPL_TOP.  I have read through several documents on Metalink ( 233428.1, 236469.1, 230672.1, and a couple others).  I have determined that in document 233428.1, we would follow section 4 called "Merging existing APPL_TOPs into a single APP_TOP.  Well in following it seems a gap exists.  In our case the FORMS binaries exist only on NODE 2.  The merge process states to only copy the COMMON_TOP from Node 2 into the new shared APPL_TOP.
