Performance with NOT LIKE

 Hi,

I am trying to reduce cost of some of SQL queries and at one point we have NOT LIKE  'ABCDEFG%' condition and it is increaing cost many times. please suggest some methods to bring down the cost or any alternative to NOT LIKE.
