rman on windows

 Hi,

I have Oracle 10g Standart Edition installed on Windows Server 2003. Once a week I do backup by rman. As you know there is unique number (dbid) for database and this number is enclosed in every backup.

?: What should I do if my windows server gets into trouble. In such cases after reinstallation OS I'll have to install new instance in order to use rman to restore spfile and controlfile at first. But after that my new instance will generate new dbid, which won't match to my backup. Or let's assume my hard disk where Oracle was installed broke down. I replaced it with the new one. Then I installed Windows on it. How can I make use of rman if there is no rman on my new hard disk. In the Backup and Recovery manuals

Howdy, Stranger!
