Flashback Guaranteed Restore Points
Hi,
I'm running a 10.2.0.3 database for a software development company. The database is for performance testing only and needs to be restored back to an original state on a continuous basis, from tape this task takes around 6-7 hours. When I visited the Oracle User Group in December I was told about using guaranteed restore points by making use of flashback. So I setup a restore point after a tape recovery, let the software dev guys play and then when it came to restoring it backup I simply restored back to the restore point and everything worked great.
The problem I'm now having is with the logs. I cannot get rid of the flb or arc files in the flashback area. Once I've restored to a previous point the logs are completely useless but remain taking up gigs of space on my system. After some research I noticed people saying the obsolete logs would be overwritten but this isn't true, as I restored to a point, left the old logs in the flashback area but reduced the area to a small size to see if the logs would be overwritten but they are not. Add to this the
