Benefit of exporting the secure key out of the repository in Oracle Management Server?

I am preparing to apply patchset 10.2.0.5 to EM Grid Control 10.2.0.2 on a Windows server. The checklist for the OMS and repository upgrades includes the statement:

"If the secure key was exported out of the repository, it has to be put back into the repository during the upgrade."

I ran their check statement and my secure key has not been exported, but I do not know what it is or why it might be better to export it. I searched through Oracle 's documentation but have not found a description of it.

What is the secure key and what are the benifits of exporting it?
