Cancel hire while maintaining history

We've had a number of applicants entered with a projected hire date that are no-shows.  When this occurs, we need to cancel the hire.  However, when performing this action, the applicant's history is erased - they no longer show as applied to the vacancy they were hired for, or any other.

Is there a way to cancel a hire in Oracle HR and keep the applicant's history in iRecruitment?
