Disabling RMAN RESTORE/DUPLICATE 'failover to previous backup'

edited May 28, 2009 3:59AM in Database Backup and Recovery (MOSC) 1 commentAnswered
I'd like to disable the RMAN feature of failing over to a previous backup when running a DUPLICATE/RESTORE operation.

Our previous backup is likely offsite and we would not want to restore it and then roll forward thorugh the archivelogs.   We'd rather just fail and rerun and restore from where we left off.   The likely cause of the failure is a file system/tape drive/tape issue.

I've  scoured the documentation and have not seen a published method of disabling this behavior.    Anyone know of a way to disable the 'failover to previous backup' capability.

Thanks,

Rich
