Co-existing versions of Oracle Reports

I help support an application that runs in Oracle 10g. However, the particular client only runs the Oracle 6i version of Oracle Reports.

So, we need 2 versions of Oracle Reports - 6i and 10g - installed, so we can retrofit / retro-design reports that are issued by our core development team.

The problem we have is that certain functions in 6i appear not to work, eg "add <node>". Occasionally, attempts to compile result in the app crashing.

And 10g doesn't appear to work nicely either.

Is there a problem with both versions co-existing? Is it something in conflict in the register?
