11.5.9 to 12.1.1 with 11g DB

Hi,
I'm currently starting an upgrade from 11.5.9 with 9.2.0.5 DB to 12.1.1, and I would like to go directly to 11g, but the database preperation guidelines for 12.1.1 doesn't include a path for this.  I don't see why this wouldn't be supported, as I don't want to use the 11.5.9 system with 11g, I want to upgrade to 11g just before the 12.1.1 upgrade driver is run (i.e. Section 3, Step 3 of the Upgrade doc).

Has anyone come accross this situation yet, and doesn anyone know if it should be supported?
