Question on Inventory vs Project Manufacturing
We are in the process of determining whether or not to implement project manufacturing. It is my understanding that Inventory transactions can be interfaced to Oracle Projects without implementing Project Manufacturing. This would be done by issuing inventory to a project then using the cost collector and transaction import to bring the transactions into Oracle Projects. From what I can tell this does method does not support the creation of specific project related inventories.
We are contemplating purchasing project related materials and receiving them to project related inventories. We will not be performing any WIP transactions on the items as we will simply issue the material to the project when there is demand for it. My thinking is that in order to support this method we will have to perform a light implementation of Project Manufacturing.
