Not able to start the Agile e6.0.4 Data view daemon - Error: cannot register tcp-service

When trying to start up the DTV daemon of Oracle Agile EDM 6.0.4 on a Unix machine with the start scripts dmn_start ,the daemon stops working. The following error message appears in the  log file:

"error starting DataView-daemon => cannot register tcp-service [ Process PID=26201 runs in 32 bit mode. ]"
