Party Relationships

Looking to work on reporting sales by customer for the customers that are in a particular buying group.  Currently we are using another field for this.  After looking through data for the customer it seems like Party Relationship is the place to house this information.

Is this the recommended placed?  Could we also put tables in somewhere that provides the sales information that = rebate dollars based on the buying group?
