An OS audit trail file per session: Does Oracle keep the file as open while session is alive? Or, do

I am interested in the status of the OS audit trail file while the parent session is still alive. I wonder if Oracle keep the file open during the session life? Is that file is open exclusively and locked? Etc.
This is an audit issue, and any flexibility in regard to the file opens doors to all sorts of questions.
Looking forward to hearing from experts.
