Newbie Q: Clearing Alerts in Grid Control

 Hi,
I've recently inherited a Grid Control system from the guy that left and it's my first exposure.
In the Critical Alerts window I acknowledged 9 alerts. The select square then went grey and
I now can't clear these alerts and my reading leads me to understand that I can't
un-acknowledge them. Can anyone tell me how to clear the alerts when they have already
been acknowledged?
