Integrating Backup Exec 12.5

We are in the process of migrating to a 11g RAC environment  using ASM.  Our engineers want to continue to use Backup Exec 12.5 for tape archival and I have concerns.  I understand the Backup Exec will not be able to see the ASM information thereby negating the option of file system backups using Backup Exec.  What I've been trying to find out is if and how Oracle can use RMAN to write to the tape drive that is managed by Backup Exec.  I would imagine I would have to configure the media library for the parameters specific to Backup Exec, but I need
