Delete BOM for Buy items that where changed from a Make item

We have numerous items that have been changed from a Make item to a Buy item.  We would like to delete the BOM's but due to the constraints are unable to do so.  There are no open discrete jobs nor any open sales orders.  Because the BOM exist the BOM enabled flag cannot be turned of for the the item.  The only way I know of deleting these would be to have a script to disable the seated 'delete constraints' in question' and then to write a custom 'delete constraint' to include the deletion of BOM's for items that are marked
