Oracle Streams Capture Process has Excessive Disk Reads

 I'm a Streams newbie.  I set up a test stream on a very small table and the replication is performing as expected.  However, I find that when I start the capture process my "Other I/O' reads increases by about 50,000 per second.  Is there a way to slow this doen?
