Formula for measure Remaining effort

Hi,

Would someone happen to know the exact formula for measure Remaining effort used in workplan?

It seems that system is calculating it as Estimation at Completion, i.e. Remaining plan = Actual + ETC, but shouldn't the remaining effort describe Estimation to complete, i.e. the effort that is needed to complete the task/project?

If anyone knows the exact formula, I'd appreciate the info. I couldn't find a mention about this in the manuals.
