Should I grant the developers the privilege to create synonyms/dblinks?

Hi,

This is the first time working with developers on a database that I am taking the DBA role.  The RESOURCE role does not include the privilege of creating synonyms/dblinks.  Should I grant the developers that privilege on creating either private or public synonyms/dblinks?  I know they would love to have this privilege. What kind of security risks or headaches a DBA will face by doing so?
