2 Node Windows RAC with Single Node Data Guard - Patch Application One Live Node

We have a 2 node 10g rel 2 Windows RAC with a Single Node Data Guard Standy Server. We use Oracle Spatial extensively so the Data Guard Server had to be a Physical Standby (versus a logical standby) per our understanding of the documentation. Basically I'd like to know if it's even possible to do this:

We'd like to leave node 1 up during patching (high availability) and patch the node 2. Then bring the node 2 back up and take node 1 down to patch it. All the while we'd need to have the patches pushed to the Data Guard Standby. Can this be done? Has anyone done this? Any pointers? Thanks!

Howdy, Stranger!
