Viewing FSG's in excel through report manager / adi

Hi,
We have an issue where we are unable to view the output of any FSG's in excel through report manager. We can see the output through PDF or HTML without issue.
Can see multiple bugs listed for this same issue, but most (if not all) are closed in a status of 'not a bug' (see bugs 8688004, 8435381, 8365273).
If this isn't a bug, does anyone have a clue as to what the solution to the issue is, as I am unable to find information on how to fix.

As far as I can tell, this is not platform specific, or related to the browser version.
