is a backup of crashed database usable for log forwarding ?
Hi, Oracle backup experts,
Assume oracle database 10g with archivelog mode crashed. I know it is advisable to open the database and shutdown cleanly before taking a backup.
But assume my junior DBA did a backup, say BAK, of the crashed database while if it is down. So it is not a consistent backup. What is the downside of this backup BAK ?
Further, let us say the database is opened after instance recovery and running fine. After a few days, the disks containing all datafiles died. But we do have all
the archived redo logs, plus the backup BAK.
My question is,
