Procedure to connect to Oracle SQL * Plus present on VPC from a remote desktop

Hi,

I installed VPC 2007 on a remote machine. Using VHD I had installed Oracle 8i on Windows 98 machine. The remote machine is Windows XP,  X86. I had the tns entry of the VPC copied on my local desktop. I need to connect to the SQL*Plus present on the VPC from my desktop. When I am connecting it is showing TNS could not connect to the identifier specified.

Request updates to resolve the issue.
