Customers created in Oracle Customers online not available in Forms via text search

Hi
I created a customer in Oracle Customer Online. When I try to query the same in Receivables in customer standard form I am unable to search through the text search option.
The Customer Online self service application gives a party number (registry ID) but no customer number.
The customer can be viewed in forms if I search by party number.

Is there some step missing so that it becomes immediately available in forms
How can a customer number be generated in Oracle Customers Online
