Need to do a complete database restore of a RAC database with ASM using RMAN backup sets

 I desperately need assistance with restoring a RAC database from a month-old RMAN backup set.  I am not familiar with the syntax needed for rman restore/recovery operations.  Although I have worked with Oracle for many years, the only restores I have needed to do were from export files. 

The environment is a 2-node cluster on Linux using ASM for the storage manager.  I have restored the backup set from tape and now just need to figure out how to apply it.  I have tried reading several publications on this but they don't provide all of the steps I need to perform.
