What parameters to monitor?

An open ended "Subject", and I should search more thoroughly...but, time is of the essence. You can't monitor everything, but does someone have a list of the parameters (i.e. PROCESSES) that they monitor at say a "warning" then "critical" level. (Understanding that it is shop specific..but, just looking at what init/instance parms you monitor).

Please be specific, I am looking for those db/instance parms that are tunable/modifiable that if their MAX limits are hit the instance will abort or stop accepting connections.
