Java Client Performance Drop

Wow, not sure what happened here, but the Java Client lag is significantly worse than previous versions.  Almost every admin action requires a 2-10 second wait before the changes are saved and I noticed during this time my client PC CPU is buzzing with a single core maxed out.  This is with both local and remote administration (on the server and off.)  Any chances there's a fix for this?
