Silly me, I thought I could import a database

Of course this is a silly issue (as the subject indicates,) but yes, I tried to import an 11g dmp file into a 10g database when the 11g datapump and exp were used.  And yes, the sequences didn't import and I was getting errors up the wazoo.  Man, when will we ever have a common import format?
