Any information on how the score is calculated for the ABOUT() operator?

I'm trying to do some queries using the about() operator. I have created an index and indexed the themes. I am using just the default knowledge base (Oracle 10.2.0.2)

When I do a query I get the expected rows returned but I am having trouble making sense of the scores. It appears that documents with many significant terms (as shown by the string returned by CTX_DOC.MARKUP) are getting much lower scores than some with only one relevant word.

For example, a search on the theme "religion" gives (among others) these two results (matching terms are in blue)

RELI 202 (3) Critical
