Reorder Point Planning

can anyone please share their experience of implementing the Reorder Point Planning method in a non-MRP environment? Basicaly my client has couple of warehouse that simply stocks about 3000 items for internal usage (maintenance, repair etc..).

I am looking specifically

--how easy or difficult it is to implement the process

--how easy or difficult for end users to maintain the system post diployment

--Any helpful hints or recommendations
