Listern.ora file

 Hi, I'm knew to the Oracle 10G environment and when I took over this position, I noticed the listener was running but there was no listener.ora file.  I spoke to an associate and was told a listener.ora file was no longer needed in 10G.   I started wondering many questions what to do when I need to customize the listener for example now I need to add encryption parms. 

My question is, can I simply go into Net manager and configure a listener file to be generated without affecting the listener that is running and all the databases associated with it?
