Failover in 9i - Primary is 2 node RAC and Physical standby is standalone database

Hi,

We have a 2 node 9.2.0.7 RAC on windows 2003 server
We have just created a stand alone 9.2.0.7 physical standby database on windows 2003 server

The plan is to test the switchover and failover capabilities using the single physical standby

Questions:

A)Based on your individual experiences, under what type of situations we would benefit from SWITCHOVER capabilities?
Let us suppose that we want to perform some database administrative tasks on primary database (such as table space  re-org)

1.We perform switch over - Primary becomes standby and standby becomes primary
2.we perform the tablespace re-org on standby (old primary)
3.Once done, we perform switch back - old standby now becomes standby again and old primary once again becomes primary

Howdy, Stranger!
